The Awakening
2008
Found images, paint, frames, polaroids on truck.
Collaboration with Mudchicken
The Awakening started on an abandoned truck in the industrial district of South Seattle. We approached this as an opportunity to begin free and unauthorized mural creation in the public space.
A few hours into our installation, we were confonted by the truck's owner. Although initially concerned what we were doing, he ended up granting us full permission to continue working after seeing the art up close and personal.
Unfortunatley, the area landlord caught wind of the installation a few days later, and cited it as a public eyesore. He threatened the truck owner with fines if the mural was not removed. One week later, the truck was painted completely black.
